February 4, 2025 — A man who was burned when he opened the lid on his Sunbeam Crock-Pot Multi-Cooker has filed a lawsuit blaming the pressure cooker’s defective safety features for his burn injuries.
The lawsuit was filed by Jason M., a man from Black Eagle, Montana who alleges that he was severely burned by a Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker (Model Number SCCPPC100-V1).
On January 25, 2022, he claims to have suffered “serious and substantial burn injuries” when he was able to open the lid on his Crock-Pot Multi-Cooker when it was still under pressure.
The lawsuit was filed against the manufacturers of the Crock-Pot Multi-Cooker, Sunbeam Products and Newell Brands.
These defendants are accused of putting profits ahead of safety by continuing to sell their pressure cookers to consumers.
The lawsuit also accuses the defendants of failing to warn consumers about the “serious risks posed by the defects, and failing to timely recall the dangerously defective Pressure Cookers regardless of the risk of significant injuries to Plaintiff and consumers like him.”
His pressure cooker lawsuit was filed on January 13, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana — Case 1:25-cv-00009-TJC.
