October 30, 2019 — Michaels craft stores recalled keychain power banks after two reports of fires that occurred during charging.
The recall involves approximately 14,000 of Michaels store-brand Bead Landing™ tassel keychain mobile power banks.
They contain a lithium-ion battery that can be used to charge phones and other devices.
Michaels issued the recall after receiving two reports of the battery overheating and catching on fire while it was charging. No injuries were reported.
The recalled keychains were sold at Michaels craft stores nationwide from March 2018 through August 2019 for about $20.
They measure about 7″ long by 1.5″ wide. They come with USB and micro USB charging cables, as well as a lightning adapter for the micro USB cable.
Michaels is urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled keychain power banks and return them to any Michaels store for a full refund.
