October 8, 2018 — An oil well site explosion in Campbell County, Wyoming seriously injured 3 men and destroyed a building.
The explosion occurred at an oil well site near the T-7 Road, where three contractors were working on October 4.
Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said a 33-year-old man who was inside the building was seriously injured in the explosion.
“The 33-year-old male was reported to have lacerations to his leg with bone showing and lacerations to an arm with bone showing.”
The explosion also injured a 40-year-old male, who was bleeding from his right hand and experiencing pain in his rib cage, and a 28-year-old man who was cut on his forehead.
A fourth contractor at the site was uninjured.
The workers drove back to Gillette in two vehicles. The lead vehicle met up with EMS personnel who treated the 33-year-old man.
Sheriff’s deputies met the second vehicle. All of the men involved in the explosion were transported to Campbell County Health. The 33 year-old man and the 40-year-old man are in good condition.
Devon Energy supervisors and the fire department responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Devon Energy is still investigating what caused the explosion.
