What Happened?
In December 2023, BlendJet recalled over 4.8 million BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders after dozens of people suffered burn injuries or lacerations (cuts) when it overheated, caught on fire, or the blades broke and exposed razor-sharp edges.
What is the Problem?
BlendJet warned that the “recalled blenders can overheat or catch fire and the blender blades can break off, posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers,” according to the recall warning.
49 Burn Injuries Linked to BlendJet Blenders
At least 49 people who suffered minor burns, and 1 person suffered a laceration injury as of December 2023 when the recall was originally announced — but more injuries may have occurred in recent months.
BlendJet received approximately 329 reports of the blender blades breaking during use, plus another 17 reports of blenders overheating or fires, which resulted in approximately $150,000 in property damage.
How Long Is Too Long for a Recall Remedy?
BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders were recalled in December 2023, but some people who tried to get a replacement have been waiting for months, according to one unhappy customer from Utah. BlendJet finally sent her a replacement after they were contacted by investigators with her local news station.

If you own a BlendJet 2 Portable Blender, you can check if it is being recalled by looking for a serial number that is printed on the bottom.
The recall includes blender units where the first 4 digits of the serial number are between 5201 and 5542. The words “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender” are also printed on the bottom.
After locating the serial number, check if your blender is being recalled by entering the serial number in the online tool at www.blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or by emailing Safety@BlendJet.com.
Where Were BlendJet Blenders Sold?
The recall involves certain BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders that were sold nationwide in the U.S. and Canada between October 2020 and November 2023. They came in a variety of colors and designs.
The blenders were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target, online at BlendJet.com, and other stores nationwide for between $50 and $75.
