On July 19, Daily Harvest sent an email to customers to report that tara flour was probably what sickened hundreds of people who ate French Lentil + Leek Crumbles. FDA Investigates Illnesses Linked to Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles
The FDA is investigating reports of “gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function” linked to Daily Harvest French Lentil + Leek Crumbles. Texas and dozens of other states have reported illnesses, according to the FDA:
“If you experience symptoms including yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), dark urine, itching with no rash, gastrointestinal illness, nausea, fatigue, body aches, severe abdominal pain and/or fever after consuming this product, please consult with your healthcare provider. Let your healthcare provider know you have recently consumed the recalled Daily Harvest French Lentil & Leek Crumbles.”

The first lawsuit against Daily Harvest was filed by Carol R., a woman from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who ate French Lentil + Leek Crumbles twice in May 2022. Both times, she was hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain and other symptoms.
During her second hospitalization, she was diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes and gallbladder dysfunction.gallbladder. On June 24, she had surgery to remove her gallbladder, according to the lawsuit (Case Number 1:22-cv-05385).

One Instagram user wrote: “What started as extremely intense upper abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and fatigue took a dark turn with the test results for my liver enzymes. The fatigue persisted for the next couple weeks and after almost a month I’m finally feeling like the energy levels are starting to come back.”
Another person on Reddit reported that his wife was hospitalized for 2 days with seriously elevated liver enzymes, extreme fatigue, dark urine, low-grade fever, and whole-body itching with no rash.
Daily Harvest Recalls French Lentil + Leek Crumbles
On June 23, Daily Harvest and the FDA announced a recall for French Lentil + Leek Crumbles.
Daily Harvest reported that approximately 470 people had reported “gastrointestinal issues and potential liver function issues” after eating after eating French Lentil + Leek Crumbles. Around 28,000 packages were distributed from April 28 through June 17, 2022.
