HALO 1000 Power Stations Recalled for Deadly Fire Hazard
In August 2024, the death of a 79-year-old man prompted a recall for nearly 6,000 HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations that can overheat and catch on fire, which poses a risk of severe burn injuries and death.

HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations were recalled because they contain a lithium-ion battery that can overheat and catch on fire.
What Happened?
Tragically, a 79-year-old man died of smoke inhalation after a HALO 1000 Power Station caught on fire in his home in June 2022. In addition, there were another 4 fires reported, including 2 people who suffered smoke inhalation and one person who was also burned.
How To Identify Recalled Power Stations
HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations (Model PS-1000) are high-capacity lithium-ion battery power banks. They are advertised for outdoor enthusiasts, tailgating, camping, or power outages.
The power stations have three USB-A charge ports, a USB-C fast charge port, three AC outputs, two DC outputs, a DC socket, an LCD display, a built-in flood light, and a collapsible handle.
HALO 1000 Portable Power Stations were imported to the U.S. by ZAGG, Inc., a company based in Midvale, Utah. The power stations were sold by ZAGG and also two other retailers:
- Alliance Consumer Group (ACG), of Roanoke, Texas
- QVC Inc., of West Chester, Pennsylvania
Where Were The Power Stations Sold?
These three retailers (ZAGG, ACG and retailer QVC) sold about 5,740 units of the portable power stations from October 2021 through March 2022 for between $1,000 and $1,300, according to the recall notice.
