Lawsuit Filed for Girl Sickened by Hiland Dairy Chocolate Milk
On January 22, 2021, Hiland Dairy was hit with a lawsuit after a girl in Oklahoma was sickened by sanitizers in chocolate milk.
The 16 year-old girl drank the milk while she was hospitalized for an unrelated medical problem at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital.
She drank a now-recalled carton of Hiland Dairy 1% Low Fat Chocolate Milk that was contaminated with Synergex, which her doctors compared Synergex to Drano. Her lawyers said, “So essentially my client consumed Drano in her chocolate milk.”
The girl developed blisters in her mouth and throat. She also required constant medical monitoring for ulcers in her stomach and intestines.
The lawsuit was filed by Alicia D. against Hiland Dairy Foods Company LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma — Case Number 5:21-cv-00054-HE.
