1.1 Million Igloo Coolers Recalled for Finger Injury Hazards
In February 2025, Igloo recalled about 1.1 million Igloo® 90-Quart Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers after at least 12 people suffered severe finger injuries due to a pinch-point on the tow handle. The injuries included:
- Fingertip amputations
- Finger-crushing injuries
- Pinched fingertips
- Bone fractures (broken bones)

There are pinch-points around the tow handle that can cause severe finger injuries. According to the recall, “The tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards.”

There were 12 reports of people who suffered severe fingertip injuries due to the tow handle on an Igloo 90-Qt. Rolling Cooler, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations (cuts).
How To Identify Recalled Igloo Coolers
The recalled coolers were sold at Costco, Target, Academy, Dick’s and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, Igloocoolers.com, and other websites from January 2019 through January 2025.

Igloo recalled about 1,060,000 coolers that were manufactured before January 2024. The recall involves Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers with a variety of color-combinations and models, such as:

- Powerade
- EcoCool Latitude 90 Roller
- Sportsman Latitude 90 Roller

What Should I Do?
Consumers can check if their Igloo Cooler is being recalled by looking on the underside of the cooler for the model number and date code.
The model number is a 5-digit number and can be found on the label originally affixed to the bottom and side of the cooler.
